Terms of service

By downloading, installing, or using the Candle mobile application, you agree to be bound by these terms of service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.

Candle: Remember the birthdays and occasions of the people who matter. Candle is a warm, beautifully designed way to remember the birthdays, anniversaries, and life occasions of the people who matter to you, and actually follow through on them.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the app. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.

Where the app offers sign-in, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must not use another person's account without permission.

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the app or its backend systems.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the app.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app.
• Use the app to transmit harmful, offensive, or abusive content.

Premium is a subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play. It renews automatically at the price shown at purchase until cancelled, and you can cancel any time in your device's subscription settings; access continues until the end of the paid period. Trials, where offered, convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us directly.

Local data on your device remains accessible even if sync is unavailable, but Candle and its developers aren't liable for missed reminders or lost data. Keep your own backups from Settings → Export data.

You retain ownership of the content you create in the app. By using the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display that content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your personal data.

The Candle name, logo, design, and all related content are the intellectual property of the developer and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the app without prior written consent.

If you enable notifications, you consent to receiving push notifications from the app. You can disable them at any time via your device settings.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time, without notice, if you violate these terms or engage in conduct we determine to be harmful to the app or its users. You may delete your account at any time; upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed.

The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including uninterrupted or error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of any content.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

We may update these terms from time to time and will note significant changes by updating the "last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
